DS Blue Dragon May Be Delayed Indefinitely

Files under RPG News | Leave a Comment

Blue Dragon Plus, the “real-time simulation RPG” for Nintendo DS based on the Xbox 360 RPG, seems to have been pushed back from its scheduled launch window.

Although publisher AQ Interactive announced last year that the game would be released this March, the company’s new product page for the game lists an “undetermined” release date.

Siliconera suggests that perhaps developer Feelplus, fresh from finishing up the Japanese version of Lost Odyssey for Xbox 360, needs more time to finish the game.

Could Bioware Sonic RPG now be known as Sonic Chronicles…

Files under RPG News | Leave a Comment

We like nothing more than having a quick perusal of the US Patent & Trademark Office; sure there’s a lot of obscure entries to trawl through in the hope of finding something worthwhile, but occasionally you do.

While Sonic Chronicles could be little more than just another Sonic recompilation, we’re hoping it’s the title for Bioware’s Sonic RPG currently in development at the Canadian outfit.

Further listings hint towards an unknown game titled The Dark Brotherhood, although we’re even more in the dark about this one than Sonic Chronicles.

Final Fantasy XI Online: exterminating real money transactions

Although illegal on many MMORPGs, the buying and selling of in-game items and even characters using real world money is still rampant. Among those MMOs that frown upon Real Money Transactions (RMT) is Final Fantasy 11 Online (Xbox 360, PC).

In their efforts to root out RMTs in the community, the FFXI team has set up an enforcing body in the community whose job is to exterminate the system. Called the Special Task Force (STF), the group is part of Square Enix’s No Real Money campaign.

It’s also the STF’s job to ban and confiscate cheat tools, which some hackers use to take over other people’s characters. Some people use these tools without their knowledge, making their accounts vulnerable to hackers.

The FFXI team explains that a decrease in RMT in the game isn’t enough; as long the community still feels that any such transactions exist, the STF will not be dispersed.

When asked whether any legal Ream Money Transactions will ever make it to the MMORPG’s actual gameplay, the FFXI team gave a firm no, saying that it’s not fit for the game’s design.
