Retro RPG Vay now on the iPhone

Files under RPG News | Posted by admin

Just as Sega of America’s president Simon Jeffery is railroaded into
saying the iPhone is as powerful as the Dreamcast console, TouchArcade
reports on a conversion of the Mega-CD’s classic RPG, Vay.

Casting you as Sandor, Prince of Lorath, Vay has become a cult favourite
renowned for difficult, yet deep and extensive gameplay.

Back in 1994, a CD-ROM offered seemingly unlimited storage space for a
2D isometric RPG, so the original dev team really went to town on making
Vay as far-reaching as possible; boasting something in the region of
40?50 hours of gameplay. (Impressive in those days.)

Rather astutely, SoMoGa hasn’t gone for a direct port so much as a
considered conversion. It’s been careful to deliberately retain the
retro style and feel, while adapting the interface, layout and battle
scenes to better suit the touchscreen controls of the iPhone.

Currently only available to US iPhoners, the large App Store download is
racking up some serious retro attention.
